Kess graduated George Fox University in 2000 with a degree in Economics. His first job out of college was working for a company that brokered loans to hundreds of different banks. In 2003 Kess Romano with the help of his father Jerry Romano established the rest of the Romano businesses, Romano Financial. Its primary purpose was to originate and broker loans to banks. In the spring of 2005, he founded Romano Development, Inc (a real estate development company) and Romano Properties (a property holding company).

All three of the businesses experienced success until 2008. As the credit markets seized up, banks weren’t buying loans or lending to developers to improve properties, which consequently undermined the business model of all three of the Romano Companies.

In an effort to strengthen the companies and with the direction of a mentor, Kess acquired his Investment Advisory Securities license and established Capital Preservation Management, LLC (CPM), a Registered Investment Advisory Firm in the state of Washington. The company was created to manage a private mortgage offering in order to produce a secure alternative investment, providing investors a secure investment with higher than market yields.

Korban grew up in and around Vancouver, WA and is happy to call the Northwest his home. After school he pursued several different entrepreneurial careers before deciding to move to Argentina to work for humanitarian causes. Upon returning to Washington, he became interested in real estate investment and began working with his brother Kess.

Korban joined Romano Capital in 2011 and during that time has overseen much of the company’s growth and expansion of its core lines of business. Initially Korban acted as the company’s internal accountant, handling reporting and compliance for over 30 LLCs. Since then, his expertise in private money lending has allowed the company to quickly scale its Capital Preservation mortgage fund to its current cap of $20 Million.

Korban now serves as the Director of Operations for all the Romano Companies and directly oversees loan underwriting for all the Romano managed investment funds. In addition, Korban manages company cash flows and ensures that the company accounting and reporting procedures are compliant with industry and regulatory standards.

Herman is the General Manager of Romano Capital, Inc. He is responsible for providing strategic leadership across the entire family of Romano Companies and is directly responsible for implementing the strategic goals and operational policies and plans. Herman has 28 years of experience in people and process management and has held numerous senior executive positions. He has worked for Fortune 500 companies and with medium size, family owned businesses. His experiences in diverse roles, in multiple countries, across different cultures, brings enormous benefits to his current position.

Brian is the Chief Financial Officer where he is responsible for financial reporting as well as assisting with system development. He is a Vancouver native and graduate of Washington State University where he studied Business Administration. In his career, Brian has served in several finance and accounting roles that have yielded a wide spectrum of experience. Prior to joining Romano Financial, he served for more than a decade as CFO of a national online retailer.

Ted graduated from Pomona College in 2005 with a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. After spending time studying International Politics in Germany he returned to the U.S. and began a career in real estate. He became a licensed real estate broker with CBRE, where he worked with the HUD services group specializing in transactions involving federal subsidization; especially Section 8 assistance payments, tax exempt bond financing, and syndication of Section 42 Low Income Housing Tax Credits. Experience in the complex and unique ways that government subsidized housing is financed would prove invaluable later in his career.

In 2012 Ted returned to his hometown of Vancouver, WA with a desire to learn more about the development and finance aspects of real estate. He began working with developers in Clark County, WA and applied his experience from commercial real estate brokerage. In 2016 he joined Romano Capital as the company’s VP of Investment Strategies. In this capacity, he works closely with Kess Romano and is instrumental in both designing and managing the company’s investment funds.

M I L E S

Jason Miles is the Chief Compliance Officer of Capital Preservation Management, LLC, the advisory rm that Kess Romano founded and manages. CPM manages our mortgage lending fund, Capital Preservation 100, LLC, which is a securities offering that is governed by the Washington Department of Financial Institutions. Jason’s duties include ensuring the ongoing regulatory requirements of the fund and manager are satisfied, as well as the general administration of our Capital Preservation 100, LLC fund. He attended La Center High School and Cascade Community College. His entire 20+ year career has been spent in the real estate / investments payment processing, tax reporting and collection industry. His prior experience includes real estate sales, lending and appraisal, as well as mortgage services. Jason has also formerly been licensed as an insurance agent and investment advisor, having once completed the Series 7 (General Securities Representative) and Series 65 (Uniform Investment Adviser Law) examinations.

Jason’s hobbies include watching sporting events, reading, hiking, camping, paddling, and the occasional round of sloppy golf. He spends his free time with friends and family as much as possible. Although he was once moderately athletic, he is now resigned to only play backyard games such as bocce, disc golf and cornhole that allow a free hand for his favorite beverage.

Jennifer is the Office Administrator and brings two years of Title and Escrow experience to her work at Romano Financial. She also has three years of experience as a mortgage loan processor. In addition to her administrative strengths, Jennifer thrives in a collaborative working environments and brings great energy to any project that she touches. Exploring nature and enjoying the Northwest with friends and family is a fun activity she enjoys.

Alex is the Romano Capital Accounts Manager. He handles accounts receivable and payable, as well as manages daily office activities. This includes responsibilities such as dealing with mail, keeping the accounting books up to date, organizing our document filing system and being one of the main sources of communicating the accounting information obtained from the books to other departments in the company. After graduating with an associates degree in Business Administration from Clark College in 2015, Alex went straight to work at Romano Capital.
